Send the Weekly Branded Client Digest

How to configure, customise, and manage the weekly digest email that summarises citation wins, losses, new competitors, and top movements for each client.

The weekly digest is a short, scannable email that goes to your client every Monday morning. It covers the past seven days: citation wins, losses, competitor movements, and the top prompts. This guide shows you how to configure it, edit the template, and pause it per client when needed.

What you'll learn

  • How to enable and configure the weekly digest for a client workspace
  • How to edit the digest template to match your agency voice
  • How to pause or resume the digest without losing your settings

How the digest differs from the monthly report

The monthly report is a full PDF with executive-level commentary. The weekly digest is a brief email built for quick scanning. Think of the monthly report as the board presentation and the digest as the weekly check-in message.

Both are branded and both send from your agency address. The digest has no PDF attachment: all content is inline in the email body.

Step 1: Enable the weekly digest

  1. Switch into the client workspace from /agency.
  2. Go to /reports.
  3. Click New report.
  4. Under Format, select Weekly digest (not "Monthly report").
  5. Check the delivery settings for the available schedule options. Set the timezone to the client's local timezone.

If the client is in a different timezone to your agency, set the timezone in the workspace settings first. Go to the workspace Settings tab and choose their local timezone before creating the digest.

Step 2: Choose digest sections

The digest template has five sections. Toggle each on or off:

SectionWhat it includesRecommended for
WinsPrompts where citations increased vs the prior weekAll clients
LossesPrompts where citations dropped vs the prior weekAll clients
New competitorsCompetitor domains that appeared in AI responses this weekCompetitive markets
Top movementsThe single biggest week-on-week citation rate changeAll clients
Agency noteA free-text field you fill in manually each weekHigh-touch clients

The Agency note section is optional and blank by default. If you enable it, Outercite will include a text box in the digest that you fill in before each delivery. If you leave it blank one week, that section is hidden from the email automatically.

Step 3: Edit the digest template

Outercite gives you control over the subject line, intro text, and footer.

  1. On the report settings screen, click Edit template.
  2. Subject line: The default is "Your AI visibility update - [Client name] - [Week ending date]". Edit the prefix text to match your brand. The dynamic fields ([Client name] and [Week ending date]) are always appended and cannot be removed.
  3. Intro paragraph: This appears above the wins and losses sections. Keep it to two or three sentences. A good default: "Here is your weekly AI visibility summary. We track six AI engines every day to make sure [Client name] stays visible when it matters."
  4. Footer: Add your agency name, website, and an unsubscribe note. Outercite automatically appends a mandatory unsubscribe link below your custom footer.
  5. Click Save template.

The subject line, intro, and footer are shared across all digest deliveries for this workspace. If you want a different template per client, you need to configure it separately in each workspace. There is no global digest template at the parent org level.

Step 4: Add recipients

Add the client's email address in the Recipients field. Check the report settings for the maximum number of recipients supported. As with the monthly report, recipients receive the email only; they do not get dashboard access.

If you want your account manager to receive a copy, add their address in the CC field.

Step 5: Send a test digest

Click Send test. Outercite generates a digest using the last seven days of real data from the workspace and sends it to your own email address.

Check:

  • Subject line is correct
  • Agency branding (logo, colours, sender name) looks right
  • All toggled sections appear
  • Any "Agency note" placeholder shows or hides correctly

Once satisfied, click Save report to activate the schedule.

Pausing the digest per client

You can pause the digest for one client without affecting others.

  1. Go to /reports in that client's workspace.
  2. Click the digest report name.
  3. Toggle Active to off.
  4. Click Save changes.

The digest stops immediately. Your template and recipient settings are preserved. To resume, toggle Active back on. Outercite picks up at the next Monday delivery.

Pausing is the right choice during a client handover or a quiet period (public holidays, Christmas shutdown). Deleting the report removes all settings and you would need to reconfigure from scratch.

Understanding the data in the digest

The digest pulls from the same verification pipeline as the dashboard. Outercite tracks six AI engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI, Grok, and DeepSeek, and every citation is verified by two independent models before it is counted.

The aggregate citation rate across the platform sits at about 48%. Your client's numbers will vary. Perplexity tends to cite more often (58% across the platform), while Google AI is the hardest engine to win (38%). The digest surfaces per-engine wins and losses so clients can see which engines are moving.

Try this in Outercite

Go to /reports inside a client workspace, click New report, and select Weekly digest to set up your first digest delivery.
