Why is there no data yet?
Your new Outercite account shows no citations or stats. Here is why and what to do next.
A brand-new Outercite account shows empty dashboards until the first verification run completes. This is normal, not a problem. Most accounts see their first results within a few minutes of adding keywords.
What you'll learn
- The two most common reasons for an empty dashboard
- How to check that everything is set up correctly
- What to do if data still does not appear after a reasonable wait
Cause 1: No keywords added yet
Outercite only checks AI engines for keywords you have configured. If you have not added any yet, there is nothing to check and no data to show.
Fix: Go to /prompts and add at least one keyword. A keyword can be a question your customers ask ("best accounting software for small business") or a brand or product query. Once saved, a verification run starts automatically.
If you are not sure where to start, the organisation quickstart walks you through adding your first keyword, reading your first result, and setting up a competitor.
Cause 2: The first verification run is still processing
After you add a keyword, Outercite queues it for checking across all six AI engines. Each engine requires a separate request, and the two-model verification pipeline then processes each response in turn.
For a fresh keyword, expect to wait a few minutes before results appear. Refresh your dashboard or come back shortly.
If more than 15 minutes have passed and you still see no data after adding keywords, something may have gone wrong during setup. See Contact Support for next steps.
Quick checklist
Run through these before contacting support:
- Keywords added? Check /prompts. If the list is empty, add at least one keyword.
- Account fully set up? Make sure you completed onboarding at /onboarding. An incomplete setup can pause checks.
- Waited a few minutes? Verification takes a short time to process. A hard refresh usually reveals new data once the run is done.
- Correct workspace? Agencies: confirm you are viewing the right client workspace, not the parent org.
Try this in Outercite
Head to /prompts to add your first keyword and trigger a verification run.
