Industry Pulse answers one question: is this movement mine, or is it happening to everybody? It is a cross-customer benchmark, and there are two things the data says that the name does not.

Two caveats, stated on the surface
It is not your industry. The benchmark is one global figure across every workspace the platform measures. It is identical for every customer, regardless of sector or region. The name promises a comparison the data does not make, so the surface says "every workspace we benchmark" rather than "your industry", and so does this article.
The movements are not yours. The movements listed are detected across the whole platform, not in your workspace. They are useful as weather. They are not your results, and a reader who takes them as their own has been misled by the layout rather than by the data.
The two rates are counted over different windows
Your rate is counted over the last seven days. The benchmark carries its own period. Comparing them is still the useful thing to do, and the difference is named on the row that does it rather than hidden by printing both as bare percentages.
How to use it
- As a sanity check. Your rate fell four points. Did everyone's? If so, an engine changed its behaviour and the answer is patience plus Readiness, not a panic.
- As context in a review. "We are above the platform-wide benchmark" is a fair sentence. "We are above our industry average" is not one this data supports.
- Never as a target. A global average across every category is not a goal for any specific business.
